
MICHAEL D. GOUGH | film composer
With exposure to the arts and support of his family at a young age, Michael began his musical journey as a Trumpet player in school, and later auditioned and became a member of the world renowned Troopers Drum & Bugle Corps, where he performed in NFL stadiums and for President George W. Bush during the 2001 Presidential Inaugural in Washington D.C. He concluded as a performer with the corps as their head conductor.
He pursued a career in filmmaking and commercial production where he earned an Emmy Award in 2013. Michael has produced and directed five feature length motion pictures, and worked as a cinematographer and editor on countless projects.
Combining his love of music and film, he founded Stonegate Film Music, putting his focus into supporting other filmmakers, composing soundtracks and producing virtual instrument libraries. In 2021, Michael became the director of the world famous Troopers Drum & Bugle Corps, where he managed nationwide tours of the group. In 2021, under his tenure, the Troopers were voted #4 in the world by drum corps fans from around the globe. In 2022, the group broke into the world's elite top 12 for the first time in thirteen years. In 2023 the corps ended their year with the most successful competitive season since 1985, earning a top 10 finish in the world.
Michael composes utilizing a combination of libraries that include Spitfire Studio Strings Pro, Performance Samples strings, Spitfire Alternative Solo Strings, CineBrass Core, CineWinds Pro, Tina Guo Legato Cello by Cinesamples, Spitfire Symphonic Motions, Spitfire Drumline, Native Instruments, Heavyocity Damage 2, BBC Symphony Orchestra, East West Sounds Online, and more. Michael also utilizes independently produced sound libraries and reverb plugins.
